MAEVE Des Moines and Sacred Health have joined forces to host a postpartum playgroup at Joujou Des Moines on the first and third Tuesday of every month. Join us for a fun, casual hour of play and learn from occasional short speakers facilitated by Sacred Health.

What you need to know:
- This event will be held during normal business hours and is open to the public, but is FREE for MAEVE members and Sacred Health postpartum clients. (If you are not a MAEVE member, you can sign up at Joujou — just ask for the QR code!)
- Free entry as noted above will be for your infant (0-12 months) child only. If you bring older kiddos with you (1-5 years old), Joujou's drop-in play rate of $13 will apply per child (unless you have an existing membership or punch card with Joujou).

Join MAEVE Des Moines at Artfull in Valley West Mall to help make no-sew T-shirt bags for the Bidwell Food & Clothing Pantry. If you have old t-shirts (in any condition) you can bring them to this event.

Join us at our first open house and learn all about MAEVE Des Moines. Come and chat with the executive board, current members, and potential new members while your kids play at Colby Park. Coffee and donuts will be provided, so we encourage RSVPs on our Facebook page here.

Supporting community service initiatives
While we love a good social event and excuse to get out of the house on a nice spring day, we’ll also be pairing this open house with two of our upcoming service initiatives.

1. May 20 is the last day we’ll be accepting donations for our Spring Book Drive supporting United Way’s Stuff the Bus campaign. If you have ‘em, bring new or like-new books for all ages (the greatest need is for books from birth to age 8) to this event. We encourage supporting local bookstores like Storyhouse Bookpub, Beaverdale Books, or Reading in Public if you’re buying new! Check out United Way’s list of recommendations for books if you don’t know what to get.

2. While you’re in spring cleaning mode, please bring us any and all old T-shirts you don’t want anymore! They can be in literally any condition — ripped, stained, whatever. We’ll explain: The Bidwell Food & Clothing Pantry (run by the Bidwell Riverside Center) is the largest serving pantry in Iowa. They give no-sew T-shirt bags to their pantry customers and go through about 120 per day. We’re collecting as many shirts as we can to make these bags for them. (If you can, join us for that event on Sunday, June 4 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Artfull in Valley West Mall.)
